I have always been a farmer at heart...or rancher....or herdsman...or pioneer. For some reason, I have just desired to be on land with animals, growing food, canning, sewing, and being as self-sufficient as possible. Luckily, I was blessed with a husband who feels the same way.
For years, we have said things like "when we get land we can...." grow our own food or have chickens or do whatever it is that will help us be more self-sufficient and be better stewards of the earth. We were planning to finally get that land this fall, but life has other plans. So here we are, having to stay in our urban neighborhood for another 2 years at least...and wondering, why wait to live the life we've always wanted? Why wait to grow our own food and live more sustainably? Why wait?
Honestly, there is absolutely no reason! And so, our urban homesteading journey begins!
The changes we are planning on first:
backyard chickens
fall garden
self energy audit
making more things from scratch (bread, cereal, cleaning supplies, ice cream, peanut butter, etc)
Follow along and watch us turn our lowly city lot into an urban homestead...into Boydtopia!
